Stuff Mom Never Told You. Rated 3 out of. Skynyd from. Sometimes superficial, always a good listen. This podcast used to provide more depth and social commentary, with episodes on debutantes, Barbie and body- image, anorexia, ect. Current co- host is a bit snarky and the show currently keeps it light and offers little that's new. As a woman of color this is only one of two feminist podcast I can subscribe to. I think it would be great to have a guest here and there for a different perspective than that of the two host, but they do a pretty darn good job with their research and listener's input. It keeps me entertained but also fills me with intelligent tidbits. The hosts personalities are friendly so I feel like I'm listening to girlfriends talking instead of a lecture. Plus, I've stopped refusing to label myself as a . If it has a new episode I play it first. I feel like I'm having a conversation with two friends over coffee. Two friends who just happen to know a LOT of stuff ladies should know. More often than I'd like to admit I respond during the podcast as if they can hear me. And then I remember they can't. I love the show and recommend it to all my podcast- listening friends, whatever gender they might be. Cristen and Caroline and so smart, witty, and engaging. I feel like they are my new best friends I can't stop hanging out with who also happen to make me smarter and better informed.
Their most recent episode on the Notorious RGB was incredible. At first I couldn't work out why Sticher kept recommending it to me - my other regular listens are things like Freakeconomics, Planet Money and Radiolab - but I'm so glad I tried it out. It's super interesting and I would recommend it to anyone, not just people interested in gender and current affairs. Show! Each episode, Cristen & Caroline entertain listeners while exploring a wide array of topics that relate specifically - thought not exclusively - to women.
